What Is HHC?

HHC, also known as hexahydrocannabinol, is a cannabinoid that is mostly found in the seeds and pollen of hemp plants in very small traces. This cannabinoid was discovered in 1944 by an American chemist named Roger Adams, who was trying to the Delta 9 cannabinoid with hydrogenated atoms.

Since HHC occurs in very small traces in hemp, it couldn’t be extracted directly from hemp, which is why scientists and researchers had to find other ways to obtain this cannabinoid. One of the ways that they discovered to obtain HHC, is through a process called Hydrogenation.

This process involves removing the double bonds of Delta 9 and replacing them with two hydrogen atoms. This results in Delta 9 converting into the HHC cannabinoid. HHC is also referred to as the hydrogenated version of Delta 9.

Thanks to this process the HHC cannabinoid can’t get damaged when exposed to heat, light, or oxygen, and it also has a long shelf life. The HHC cannabinoid can create psychoactive and intoxicating effects which are similar to that of THC. Although these effects are much stronger than Delta 8, they’re not as strong as the effects of Delta 9.

When Do Effects Of HHC Kick In?

For the effects to kick in, it usually depends on the type of HHC products you consume, as well as how you consume them. Such as:

It takes about 30-45 minutes for the effects of HHC gummies to kick in. When you consume an HHC gummy, it travels to your stomach and gets digested. After it’s been digested, the HHC cannabinoid enters your bloodstream and travels to your brain to allow its effects to kick in. Those effects last for about 2-6 hours depending on how much you consume.

When it comes to vaping HHC, it takes only about 5-10 minutes for the effects to kick in. This is because when you inhale the vapors of the HHC concentrate, the cannabinoid enters your bloodstream easily and allows its effects to kick in very quickly. That’s why you’re able to feel its effects kick in immediately after the first 2 or 3 puffs, those effects then last for about 3-4 hours.

HHC tinctures on the other hand take about 15 minutes for the effects to kick in, and they’re consumed in many ways. From straight away swallowing the drops of the tincture, to holding them under your tongue for a few seconds. The latter is considered the most common way of consuming tinctures. This is because when you hold the drops under your tongue, the mucous membrane in your tongue absorbs them and allows the HHC cannabinoid to enter your bloodstream and activate its effects in your brain without having to go through the process of digestion. The effects then last for at least 4-6 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

The best time to consume HHC products depends on the consumer’s preferences. While some people prefer to consume HHC products in the morning or daytime, others prefer to consume them at night time.

If you’re someone who consumes HHC very frequently, then it could linger in your system for up to 30 days. However, if you’re someone who consumes HHC once a week, then it can stay in your system for less than a week.

Although HHC is less potent than Delta 9/THC, there are still chances that it can make you fail a drug test. This is because HHC, is still considered a version of THC, and most drug tests are designed to pick up traces of THC in our bodies. That’s why it’s best to wait until the HHC cannabinoid leaves your system completely before deciding to take a drug test.

HHC products are considered legal in the US, according to the 2018 farm bill, which states that all hemp-derived cannabinoids and their products are considered legal as long as they don’t contain more than 0.3% THC in them.

There are many ways to heat up your HHC distillate, one of those ways is by using a blow dryer. All you have to do is hold one end of the syringe, and let the blow dryer heat up the other end of the syringe which contains the HHC concentrate.

The best way to store your HHC products is to place them inside a zip-lock bag or an air-tight jar. This is because they can help to protect your products from getting exposed to bacteria and germs which can cause the products to expire or degrade much quicker.

Once you open your HHC products, then it’s best to consume them within 6 months. This is because they’ll start to degrade after those 6 months.

Yes, it’s completely safe to mix HHC distillates in food. By doing this, the flavors of the distillate will be covered up by the flavors of the food, which will allow you to enjoy the effects of the distillate without worrying about its strong taste.

It’s best to store your HHC tinctures in a dark and cool place that doesn’t allow the products to be exposed to heat and light. This is because exposure to heat and light can cause the tinctures to degrade or expire. An example of a dark and cool place is a cabinet, drawer, or even a fridge.

HHC distillates have a shelf life of about 2 years, depending on how well you store them in the right place with the right temperatures.
